Ahmedabad,India – August 11,2010: OpenERP – The Belgium based opensource ERP provider recently taking mind of its developements in India has announced for a community involvement which would help them create a low cost solution for the Indian Market. The open source market in India has recently taken a giant leap and the company looks forward to cash-in on this opportunity through localized implementations.

The significant growth of the partner network and the requests from various parts of the subcontinental country can be seen as the pre-cursor of this business decision. OpenERP already has its development and support center based in Ahmedabad, India contributing to its revisions over the period of time.

In recent times the overall pie for open source providers around the world has got bigger in circumference.Fabien Pinckaers, OpenERP founder and CEO quoted in his blogpost “We have never experienced so much demand than during the past recent months. We see interest from major companies which strongly feel the limitations and the frustrations of dealing with SAP and Oracle, companies we never thought would consider Open Source ERP solutions a few months ago.”

Drupad Solanki, Business Developement Manager of the Asian Region of OpenERP was of the similar view “Optimization has been the mantra of the companies across the world post-recession. India is a huge market for us and in the past years organizations lacked the awareness and confidence in open source solutions. But this is the age of open source renaissance and we believe that we should recognise this possibility and build towards our advantage.Channel development and maintanence is our responsibility and thats where our focus is planted.”

Currently OpenERP has a coherent ERP system (under the version name:5.0.12) with over 600 modules and over 250 certified modules. Sensing the dire need of customers in India the Indian Accounting module was developed last year. And now their focus would be on customizations based on the Indian environment. A project has been recently launched in Launchpad : with an expected involvement from community and Partner Network. OpenObject – The OpenERP community has been a lyceum of OpenERP debates and its improvements.

With buzz around the release of OpenERP Version 6.0 it seems very likely that the interest from partners and customers would only replicate. The exponential increase of the downloads per day and a partner network over 35 countries only suggests that OpenERP is taking big steps towards their goals. For more information please visit
