MONTREAL, March 2, 2010—TECSYS Inc. (TSX: TCS), an industry-leading supply chain management software company, announced today that US-based Liberty University, the world’s largest Christian university, has selected TECSYS’ Warehouse Management Software (WMS) as a strategic hub to efficiently manage all aspects of receiving, warehousing and dispensing of the University’s assets and goods.
Scott Small, Director of Supply Chain Management at Liberty stated, “We are extremely excited about the potential that the TECSYS Warehouse Management Software solution brings to Liberty University. Supply chain management of this detail will be revolutionary for the entire university, from student to staff.”
Founded in 1971 by Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr., Liberty University is the world’s largest Christian university. It has some 12,000 residential and 42,000 distance education students, with over 3.2 million square feet of facilities and a campus that stretches more than 5,000 acres. During the past five years, Liberty has experienced significant growth; the number of its residential students grew by 33% while its online students grew by a whopping 450%.
With this growth, Liberty needed to focus on its supply chain infrastructure. Its Information Technology and operational management made it their priority to select and deploy a warehouse management system to manage the University’s assets and supplies across its campuses.
“We interviewed several warehouse management vendors, looking for the right combination of features and a system that would easily interface to our Banner Enterprise software, and at a price point that we, as a non-profit organization, could afford. On the recommendation from Gartner, the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company, we also looked at TECSYS. We concluded that, quite frankly, TECSYS was the only vendor we interviewed that showed us a solution that would fit our needs for a price we could pay,” commented John Gauger, Project Manager at Liberty.
Liberty is planning an aggressive integration solution that will automate receiving, put away and shipping/delivery. TECSYS’ WMS will be the hub for interconnecting and distributing data to and from multiple Banner modules, as well as applications that drive work orders, fulfillment, and requisitions. Banner Unified Digital Campus is the world’s most widely-used collegiate administrative suite of student, financial aid, finance, human resources, and advancement systems designed to support institutions of all sizes and types.
“Liberty University is pleased to choose TECSYS as our warehouse management solution vendor. TECSYS’ WMS is a perfect fit for our institution due to its high level of flexibility and ease of integration with our academic ERP. We look forward to a successful implementation and a long relationship with TECSYS,” Gauger concluded.
