SYSPRO ERP Accommodates Robust Customization and Increasingly Complex Needs of Industrial Forestry Equipment Manufacturer

SYSPRO, a global enterprise resource planning (ERP) software vendor, announces its role in helping Quadco Equipment, a Quebec based manufacturer of wood harvesting and industrial equipment for the forestry industry, boost efficiency and streamline operational processes during a time of rapid business acceleration, most notably in 2012. With its steady growth and expanding product lines, including the acquisition of several companies, Quadco needed to further the use of its ERP solution to assist with the mounting complexity of its operations and sales processes. Quadco had been using the SYSPRO business ERP software for over a decade, and looked to grow its use of the system with their steadily increasing sales and increasingly complex manufacturing needs. Sales orders at Quadco can range from simple requirements to very complex demands; customers have the ability to select from a wide variety of options and customize their orders to fit their specific needs. Quadco’s highly customizable manufacturing process benefits from SYSPRO’s ability to link it to other business processes. All Purchase Order Receipts are automatically synched with Jobs, Accounts Payable and other important modules. From the query screen a user has complete access to information on parts availability, prices, bills of material, and all movements of any particular stock item. In addition, Quadco has all its technical drawings attached to PDF files, any of which SYSPRO can open with a single click.

“We can do just about anything now,” says Lissa Cayer, IT Administrator at Quadco. “We can even create our own queries and reports. SYSPRO is highly customizable, and with SQL Server you can go to the database and create your own triggers.”

One of the SYSPRO equipment ERP modules that Quadco has benefitted from most is the Product Configurator. This module allows customers to specify their criteria and the components follow. The job is then sent to production and a sales order is created for the customer, with the price quoted. If that customer regularly creates the same order, it goes into the library, and the next time the customer needs it, everything is automatic. With the SYSPRO machinery software, the whole process is simplified and streamlined, not just for the Quadco team but for their customers as well.

“SYSPRO has been an excellent choice for Quadco,” says Cayer. “The functionality we have controls our manufacturing and links it to sales, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and the general ledger. There are no loose ends. You can create a stock code, know who created it, at what time, and for which customer or supplier. We have a log of everybody, what they did and when. As for the software itself, SYSPRO is really good. We’ve been using it for 10 years, and we’re still amazed at what it can do for us.”
