ATLANTA, Nov 15, 2010 — American Software, Inc. (AMSWA 6.76, +0.05, +0.75%) today announced that its Board of Directors has approved the payment of a quarterly dividend of $.09 per share. The cash dividend is payable on December 23, 2010 to shareholders of record of the Company’s common stock at the close of business on December 10, 2010.

James Edenfield, the Chief Executive Officer of American Software, said that concern over the uncertainty of tax rates as applied to dividends caused the Board to accelerate the payment date of the dividend declared by the Board on November 15th, which under normal circumstances would have been paid toward the end of the first calendar quarter of 2011. Mr. Edenfield noted that any decision as to the amount and timing of dividends in the future will be determined by the Board based upon the facts and circumstances which exist at that time. This is the thirtieth (30th) consecutive quarter in which the Board of Directors has declared a dividend payable to the Company’s shareholders.
